Sunday School Outreach Project May 2009 - Heifer International



During May of 2009, our Sunday School is doing an outreach project. We chose The Heifer Project. During the entire month of May, our Sunday School will collect money to help poverty-striken families by purchasing animals for them. Animals provide a multitude of benefits including food (i.e. eggs from chickens, milk from cows and goats, honey from bees, etc.), income from animal related products (they can sell their extra eggs, milk, honey, etc.), manure for growing crops, and the means to feed and support their families. Each family that is given an animal also gets training on caring for that animal and is required to give at least one of their offspring back into the project to benefit another family. The Heifer Project offers the following options for purchase:

You may opt to purchase specific animals or offer a general donation. All general donations will be added up at the end of the month to purchase the most expensive animal that the money will buy.

During May of 2007, our Sunday School did an outreach project. We chose The Heifer Project. We started this project on International Sunday, April 29th and collected donations throughout the month of May. You opted to purchase specific animals or offered a general donation. All general donations were added up at the end of the month to purchase the most expensive animal that the money would buy.

Heifer Project Donations… Thank you all for your donations towards our May mission project of supporting Heifer International who provides animals for needy families across the world. Through June 10th, our total amount collected was $1835. Specific animals were purchased totaling $1465 which included 10 flocks of chicks, 5 flocks of ducks, 1 floc of geese, 4 sets of fish, 3 sets of bees, 3 Hope Baskets, 2 Flocks of Hope, 2 shares of rabbits, 5 Promise Baskets, 1 goat, 1 sheep, and 2 shares of a sheep. General donations totaled $370. With the general donation we purchased a water buffalo for $250 and a pig for $120. Thank you again for your kind generosity.
