Handchime News Update – January 2009
We met our goal!…
One of our families from the congregation has generously offered to match dollar for dollar any contributions made towards the purchase of a 3-octave set of handchimes. We only needed to raise $875 which is half of the cost of the handchimes. We are happy to report that we have met our goal and raised the $875 needed. Many thanks to all of you who donated and helped us grow our handbell/handchime choir.
Our next performance of the handchimes will be on the February 1st with the piece: Ring-A-Ding-Fling. If you have any questions, please see Pam Zatchey.
April 2009:
Rehoboth Handbell News… Some members of our Rehoboth Ringers handbell choir will be participating in a Handbell Festival on April 25th. This is an event where many handbell choirs from the surrounding area get together under one director and learn more about ringing bells and have the opportunity to perform together. The concert is truly unique with more than 10 choirs participating including a solo ringer who rings 3-4 octaves of bells all by herself! Feel free to come and attend the free public concert at 5:00pm.

September 2008:
We are delighted to welcome the following new ringers for the 2008-2009 school year: Marilyn Foringer, Katarina Whalen, Joshua Shoup, Sara Goncz, and Leslie DuPont. We would also like to welcome back Linda Gleason who will be ringing with us again after taking a break last year.
Rehoboth Ringers Handbell/handchime choirs will meet Monday, September 8th at 7:00pm in the sanctuary. Our initial meeting will consist of cleaning the bells and marking new music. Rehearsing will begin the following week. Practices will run from 7:00pm – 8:30pm. Note the time extension. Please be prompt and ready to play by 7pm.
June 2008:
Our last performance for the 2007-2008 school year was Sunday, June 1st, with the performance of “A Simple Song of Joy” which featured a violin solo by Donovan! Pam Zatchey and Julie Whalen would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members of the adult handbell choir for their dedication and hard work during this school year. We had fun, learned more ringing techniques and enjoyed glorifying and praising God through this musical ministry. We even held our first workshop, played our first public performance, and attended our first handbell festival.
We would like to thank Heike and Lisa for their dedication of time and talents these past two years. We hope you will continue to find ways to use your God-given musical talents in the future. We are going to miss you.
Rehoboth’s Adult Handbell Choir is organizing for the fall term and asking the congregation if there is anyone interested in joining this music ministry. Becoming a Rehoboth Ringer is both fun and challenging. The choir is open to both youth (6th grade and up) and adults in the congregation. We practice September to May on Monday nights from 7:00 – 8:15 PM. It is not necessary to know how to read music, but you must know how to count and keep time. If you are interested in joining the handbell choir, please notify Pam Zatchey or Julie Whalen no later than August 10, 2008.
