CONGREGATIONAL MEETING
SUNDAY, JULY 25, 2010
Call to Order and Opening Devotions- The meeting was called to order at 10:30 A.M. by Tom Kuny, Council President
Certification of Quorum – Tom verified a quorum of over 35 members present.
Items for Discussion:
- State of the Union
- Building Expansion Update
- Timbering of the Property
- Gas & Oil Contract
- Sale of the Grange Property
State of the Union
As of the first six months of this year, the General Fund budget is -$4,300. Tom reminded the congregation that we did not have a full time pastor at this time in 2009.
Timbering
- The person(s) doing the timbering misunderstood the verbal instructions regarding the timbering behind the outdoor chapel. Therefore, the trees were removed, eliminating the intimate outdoor setting for the altar. Pine trees will be planted behind the altar. Congregation had no objection.
Building Expansion Update
- The drawings are completed and everything is ready.
- Mission Investment Fund (MIF), First National Bank (FNB) and ESB approved a loan. The Finance Committee recommended FNB to Council with the reasons for the recommendation. Council agreed to the recommendation.
- The appraisal of the building and property ($4,000 per acre; 400K for the building) was low. We are now awaiting a letter from FNB for a decision on the loan.
Gas & Oil Contract
- Tom explained that a contract was signed 1 ½ yrs. ago with Sylvan to drill on our 52 acres. We will receive $520 a year. To date we have received one check. Tom received word from Sylvan that Range Resources may be purchasing the contract. They are currently drilling in New Sewickley Twp. and Zelienople. The possibility of five wells may be drilled. Nothing has happened to date. No objection from the congregation.
- Access to the property will be from Neely Road.
- Question was raised regarding incumberment of property in the constitution.
- Les Kotouch suggested that a committee be formed to oversee the development of the land. Council will
- Congregation had no objection to the contract.
Sale of Economy Grange Property
- Rehoboth has the first right of refusal on the sale of the property zoned R2. An offer of $55,000 was made by Brian Kohler to purchase the grange and two lots behind the grange.
- Mr. Kohler is interested in purchasing a total of one acre for sewage and water which includes the property the building sits on.
- The building will be used to produce commercials and low budget films. No retail.
- There are no plans for additions to the building.
- Tom will pursue the proposal to purchase the 2 acres of land.
- Norman Shoup made a motion that we do not purchase the grange and property. Seconded. Motion carried.
