Pastor’s Report:
• Distributed July, August and September highlights.
• Pastor wants to make sure that he is notified of our member’s clergy needs.  He would like to develop a system for notification of illness, hospitalization, deaths, etc.  Music and Worship has been developing a card to be kept in the pews and will forward for fine tuning.
• Confirmation curriculum has been purchased:  “Here We Stand.”  Total cost for the year is $200.  All the resources are available online which allows us to control costs by only printing what we need.
• Distributed “Confirmation Covenant” which will be signed by all students and parents involved in confirmation classes.
• Pastor will divide his time helping with the Confirmation Class and leading some of the adult Sunday School classes.
• Evangelism:  Need to develop an evangelism team.  Think of members of the congregation that have the gifts to be a welcoming presence and not afraid to go out and meet new people.  There is a person, The Rev. Blair Morgan, deployed by the ELCA to help congregations.  Pastor will be meeting with him.  Council liaison is Bill Slingluff.
• Living Nativity:  Lori Shoup, Heather Goncz and Julie Whalen will be organizing a living nativity.   Watch for further details.
• Pastor received a request from the Mary Rose Coleman family for the names and addresses of those who donated money in her honor.  They would like to send thank you cards.  The process for Memorials was discussed.  It may be hard to go back and obtain this information.
• Vacation:  Pastor will be taking vacation Monday, December 28, 2009 through Thursday, January 6, 2010.  For vacation purposes, Pastor’s year will follow his hire date:  July 1 through June 30.

Open Forum
The open forum conducted by Pastor and Tom was very well received.  Pastor attended the open forum held by Bishop Kusserow on Sept. 14th.  There is an open forum for all members of the synod tomorrow, Sept. 23rd.  Pastor, Tom Kuny and Bill Slingluff are planning to attend.

New Business

Pastor Eric Reimer’s Installation
Pastor will be installed on Saturday, October 10, 2009.  The service will be held at 4 p.m. followed by a dinner.  The Fellowship Committee is looking for volunteers to bake apple and pumpkin pies.

Shelter
Craig Wicks has built a firepit and put a lot of time and work into developing the area below the playground.  He has done a fantastic job!  It has been suggested that it would be nice to have a picnic shelter next to the area.  The materials would be purchased by the church and Tom would get volunteers to construct the shelter.  Action:  Royce Wilhelm made a motion to spend up to $3,000 to purchase supplies needed to build a 24’ x 30’ shelter.  Seconded.  Motion carried.

Bill Slingluff made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  Seconded.  Motion carried.  Meeting ended with the Lord’s Prayer.
