COUNCIL MINUTES
Tuesday, September 16,  2008

MEMBERS PRESENT:  Gil Baker, Donna DuPont, Rob Hicks, Tom Kuny, Carol Nicoletti, Dee Phillips, Bill Slingluff, Karen Szatkiewicz – Debbie Jasinski, Treas.

MEMBERS ABSENT:  N/A

The Rev. Lawrence Camberg, Interim pastor, was in attendance.

Secretary’s Report –Bill made a motion to accept the Secretary’s Report with corrections.  Seconded.  Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report – Debbie Jasinski
- Giving is still up.
- Discussion was held regarding our Benevolence commitment for 2009.  Synod recommends 12% of our 2008 budget.= $15,484.  Donna made a motion to continue 2009 at our present commitment of $16,000.  Seconded.  Motion carried.
- Debbie informed Council that she transferred funds to the savings account due to the large balance she has.  The funds have been ear-marked for the General Account
- Question was posed as to the $75.00 used from the Discretionary Fund.  This was for Barnyard/Hunger monies.
- The report will be filed for audit.

Pastor’s Report – Pastor Camberg presented a handout with his expenses and time listed for September.  It was noted that he donated his time for VBS.  Pastor Camberg will be away October 12 and Pastor Bish will preside over worship that Sunday.
- Jonas Paclawski will be baptized on Sunday, September 28.

Committee Reports
Property
– Gil Baker
-  Handicap Signs
- Gil commented that we need new handicap signs in the parking lots.  He will check with Mr. Cook regarding cost.
Keys/Locks – Bill Slingluff
- Bill will proceed with the purchase and installation.

Bright Beginnings – Carol Nicoletti
- A request for a utility sink and bathroom will be taken under consideration.

Building – Royce Wilhelm
- Royce reported that the committee discussed the questions that were raised at the congregational meeting and is adamant regarding the elevator.  They have anticipated questions and are prepared with answers
- A congregational meeting has been set for Sunday, September 21 following the morning worship. 


- Phase Two will be presented at the meeting.  A vote will be called to proceed with the following:

- Tom is awaiting another bid.

New Business
Secretary Vacation
- Leigh will be on vacation (unpaid) the week of October 12 or 19.
Youth Fund Raiser for 2009 Youth Gathering
- Rob made a motion to permit the youth to sell coupon books at $5.00 a piece with the proceeds being used for their gathering.  Seconded.  Motion carried.
55 Plus Octoberfest
- Council approved of their plans.
Ecumenical Thanksgiving Eve Service
- Concord Presbyterian Church will host the service.
Script Cards
-  Carol made a motion to permit the W/ELCA to take orders for gift cards i.e Gap, Limited Two, etc. with the proceeds to be used for the Kitchen Fund.

Adjourn – Bill made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  Seconded.  Motion carried.
