Tuesday, October 20, 2009
Members Present: Gil Baker, Donna DuPont, Rob Hicks, Debbie Jasinski, Tom Kuny, Carol Nicoletti, Dee Phillips , Bill Slingluff , and Pastor Eric Reimer
Members Absent: Karen Szatkiewicz and Royce Wilhelm
Opening Devotions:
Donna DuPont led the devotions. Dee Phillips has the devotions for November meeting.
Secretary’s Report:
Rob HIcks made a motion to accept the September 22, 2009, and October 18, 2009, Secretary Reports. Seconded. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report:
• Council members reviewed the September 2009 report. Action: Filed for audit.
• Carol Nicoletti distributed the third quarter giving/attendance charts. Discussed adding 2007 data.
Pastor’s Report:
• Distributed September report.
• Pastor Sandy Kissinger will be preaching when Pastor is on vacation January 3, 2010.
• Pastor Eric will be attending required theological education November 3-5, 2009 and a preaching conference on November 7, 2009.
• November 14th The Bishop and finance committee are having a meeting to discuss long-term solutions to the Synod’s decreasing income and increasing expenses. The meeting is being held at St. Mark’s in Butler. A deficit budget has been approved for the next 2-3 years. Pastor and Tom Kuny are attending.
Committee Reports
Bright Beginnings
Pastor Eric Reimer reported that the Bright Beginnings meeting went well this morning. The Disciplinary Procedure is now in place. Marci Sebastian has informed them that she will be resigning effective the end of this school year (May 2010).
Property:
• Furnace: The motor for the nursery room needed rebuilt. Tom Kuny had the repairman check the temperature zones of the rest of the building. While the ceiling was 75º, the floor was only 68o. Discussed rewiring the fans to separate them from the lights.
• Back Door: A closer needs installed on the back door. Action: Gil Baker will purchase one.
• Chimes: Timer does not work; must be started manually. Tom Kuny will look into upgrading the system.
• Right-of-Way: There is no expiration on our right-of-way.
Sunday School – Rob Hicks
Sunday school teachers and two subs are in place. The fifth grader will be in with the other class. Lori Shoup will conduct the first communion class.
Mission In Action – Donna DuPont
There is no formal mission for November due to a mix up in the scheduling of Fair Trade.
Evangelism – Pastor Eric Reimer
Discussed potential committee members. We are looking to initially focus on our own members who have become inactive.
Unfinished Business:
Semi-Annual Congregational Meeting
• Congregation will be given a ballot to vote on options for distribution of our benevolence funds.
• Council discussed names for possible council nominations. Nominations will be taken from the floor at the meeting.
New Business
Finance Committee
Tom Kuny will approach some individuals to be on this committee.
Adjournment
Bill Slingluff made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Seconded. Motion carried. Meeting ended with the Lord’s Prayer.
