CONGREGATIONAL MEETING
Sunday, November 30, 2008
Call to Order - Tom Kuny, Council President, called the meeting to order at 11:15 A.M. .
Certification of Quorum – Tommy Pfeifer, assisted by Pres., Tom Kuny, verified a quorum of over 50 members present.
State of the Union – Tom reported that we are $30,942.00 in the black, due partly to Rev. Lawrence Camberg, Interim Pastor. Tom extended a thank you Pastor Camberg for his generous donation of time and finances.
Tom noted that giving is down by approx. $3,000.
Thrivent Investment
- It was reported that our investment was down by 25%, however, the market
was 40%. It was not advisable to move our funds at this time
Call Committee
- The Call Committee has interviewed two candidates for the Pastor vacancy and agreed that neither of them were a good match for Rehoboth. Therefore, they will await further names from the Synod.
- Tom commented that 1here were 18 churches with vacancies, but has been reduced to three congregations at this time.
Constitution and By-Laws
- Members were asked to pick-up a copy of each when exiting the church. Changes have been made upon the advisement of Rev. Kirk Bish, Assistant to the Bishop, Our constitution needed revising in certain areas.
- The two documents will be voted upon at the January 4, 2009 meeting of the congregation.
Cemetery Association Nominations
Tom asked for nominations from the floor. Les Kotouch presented the following:
- Jack Dewar
- Larry DuPont
- Scott Shoup
- Kurt Sloppy
- Further nominations will be accepted at the January 4, 2009 meeting.
Church Council Nominations
Tom reported that Donna DuPont and he are willing to serve a second term.
- He asked for other nominations, but no names were submitted at this time.
- Nominations will be accepted at the January 4, 2009 meeting.
Proposed 2009 Budget
Handouts of the 2009 budget were presented to the congregation.
- Tom fielded questions. Voting on the budget will take place at the January 4, 2009 meeting.
The meeting closed with the Lord’s Prayer lead by Tommy Pfeifer.
