COUNCIL MINUTES
Tuesday, November 18, 2008
MEMBERS PRESENT: Gil Baker, Donna DuPont, Rob Hicks, Tom Kuny, Carol Nicoletti, Dee Phillips, Bill Slingluff, Karen Szatkiewicz, Royce Wilhelm and Pastor Camberg, Interim Pastor
MEMBERS ABSENT: None
Opening Devotions – Carol lead devotions from the Gospel on St. John 20.
Secretary’s Report –Rob made a motion to accept the Secretary’s Report. Seconded. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report – Tom Kuny
- Reviewed the proposed budget for 2009
Pastor’s Report – Pastor presented his report. He has faithfully attended to the sick, shut-ins and grieving: Georgene Barto, Virginia Hartling, Emily Leibolt, Wilma & Dale Meddock and Flo Weigle. Pastor gives above and beyond.
Committee Reports
Property – Bill Slingluff
Keys/Locks
- Keys will be distributed per list.
- Paid employees will not pay a deposit fee. All other will be required to pay a deposit of $10.00 per key.
- 30 keys are being made at a cost of $7.00 per key.
- Bright Beginnings contacted Gil regarding a problem with a swing.
Bright Beginnings – Carol Nicoletti
Sales
- Bright Beginnings requested permission to sell T-shirts to families at a cost of $7.00 each.
- They would like to hold a “Mom and Me” kids clothing/toy sale. This is not consignment.
- Bill made a motion to permit the sale of T-shirts and hold the “Mom and Me” sale. Seconded. Motion carried.
Unfinished Business

- Tom is awaiting another bid.
New Business
Lutheran Magazine
- Lutheran Magazine will be sent to the shut-ins on a monthly basis. Donna will contact Leigh to due this task.
Church Secretary Resignation
- Tom informed council that Leigh Browning, Church Secretary, has submitted her resignation effective December 31, 2009.
- Rose Ann Holcomb, Secretary at Conway, Presby. Church, has applied for this position. Tom and Donna will meet with Rose Ann for an interview over breakfast.
Stewardship for Building Expansion
- Carol set-up a conference call with Rev. Chuck Lane, Stewardship Key Leader, prior to this evening’s council meeting.
- All council members were present.
- Rev. Lane explained the process, which is done in 5 Phases through scripture, prayer and growth., will take approx. four months. This will incorporate the council and congregation.
Constitution Changes
- Rob made a motion to accept the constitution changes that Pastor Bish made. Seconded. Motion carried.
Semi-Annual Congregational Meeting
- Sunday, November 30, 2008 following the 10:30 am worship.
- The following agenda items are:
o State of the Union
o Treasurers Report – Through October 2008.
o Budget for 2009
o Constitution changes and By-Laws
o Building Fund – Meeting with Thrivent reported that our investments are down 25%.
o Call Committee – They have received two names for interviews. The number of churches requiring pastors has dropped.
o Council members – Tom will seek re-election. Donna has declined at this time.
o Cemetery Association
FYI - Donna reported that the Church Records have been updated and accurate to her knowledge. However, there has been no recording of history since 1986.
Adjourn – Bill made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Seconded. Motion carried.
