COUNCIL MINUTES
Wednesday, March 12, 2008

MEMBERS PRESENT:  Gil Baker, Donna DuPont, Rob Hicks, Tom Kuny, Carol Nicoletti, Dee Phillips, Karen Szatkiewicz and Royce Wilhelm.  Debbie Jasinski, Treas.

The Rev. Kirk Bish, Assistant to the Bishop, and Rev. Janice Altenberger, Temporary Interim, were in attendance.

EXCUSED ABSENCE:  Bill Slingluff

Opening Devotions – Karen lead the devotions, “Our Unique Call.”  Rob will lead the devotions for March.

Secretary’s Report – Karen made a motion to accept the Secretary’s Report with the following corrections:  Carol Nicoletti – Stewardship Rep.; Rob Hicks, Boy Scout, Rep.; and the amount in the Memorial Fund was approx. $1,800.  Seconded.  Motion carried.

Pastor’s Report – Pastor Bish commented that it has been a joy to serve Rehoboth and feels everything is going well.  He applauded the congregation for moving forward with the building expansion plans.

Pastor Janice – Reported that all shut-ins have been visited but one.  This will be completed before Easter.

Treasurer’s Report – Debbie Jasinski
- Debbie reported that we have paid $1,500 to date for professional services for the building plans.
- Bishop Kurt Kusserow returned a check he received for services rendered.  The check will be sent to World Hunger in his honor.
- The report will be filed for audit.

Committee Reports
Property – Gil Baker
- Mirrors need to be hung in the Library.
- Melvin Murray was contacted to repair a leak in the furnace pump.
- Waxing floors on Sunday, March 16th.  Counting Comm. will assist with placement of the tables and chairs.

Unfinished Business
 Easter Sunrise Breakfast
- Casseroles are to be at the church by 7:30 a.m.
- Set up will be at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
- Karen suggested that we also offer cold cereal in the small boxes for children who do not like eggs.
- Evaluation from last year’s breakfast indicated an eggbeater casserole and also a potato casserole w/o onions.  Carol will make an eggbeater casserole and Tom will do a potato w/o onion.

Lord’s Prayer Banner
- The banner has been framed and hung in the narthex.

New Business
Wish List
- Carol handed out a copy of the “Wishes” from the congregation regarding their spiritual needs.  The list was reviewed and suggested that in the future we collect any ideas the same day as we hand out the form.  There was a poor response.  Many members commented that they forgot their forms.  The list will be addressed in the near future.

Church Cemetery
- Council was informed that a Mr. Forest Passerin from Philadelphia, PA requested to meet with the Cemetery Committee to discuss the possibility of purchasing a parcel of land to obtain access for a “right away” to his property behind the cemetery, as it is land locked.

Meeting Regarding “Call Committee”
- Pastor Bish requested to meet with Council on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. to explain the process of selecting a Call Committee and how a Call Committee works.

Finance Committee
- Tom informed council of the Finance Committee:  Sam Goncz, Ch., Larry DuPont and Metro (Butch) Zatchey.

Social Ministry Committee
- Donna requested that a Social Ministry Committee be re-established within the church.  This committee would be responsible for assisting with shut-in visits, sending cards, organizing/preparing meals if necessary and taking members to appointments or possible errands.
- Tom asked Donna to contact Leigh and have this added to the Time and Talents questionnaire that is being inserted in the Easter bulletins.

Adjourn – Gil made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  Seconded.  Motion carried.

Next Meeting – Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.
