Council Minutes
Tuesday, June 16, 2009
Members Present: Gil Baker, Donna DuPont, Debbie Jasinski, Tom Kuny, Carol Nicoletti, Dee Phillips, Bill Slingluff, and Royce Wilhelm.
The Rev. Lawrence Camberg, Interim Pastor, was in attendance.
Absent: Rob Hicks, Karen Szatkiewicz
Opening Devotions:
Carol Nicoletti led the devotions. Bill Slingluff will lead the devotions for July.
Secretary’s Report:
The minutes from the May 13, 2009 Council Meeting were reviewed. It was noted that Debbie Jasinski was incorrectly listed as attending the meeting. Council also reviewed the May 17, 2009 and June 7, 2009 Special Congregational Meeting minutes which will be reviewed/approved at the November Semi-Annual Congregational meeting.
Action: Bill Slingluff made a motion to accept the May 13, 2009 minutes as corrected. Seconded. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report:
Council members reviewed the May 2009 financial report. Filed for audit.
Pastor’s Report:
Pastor Camberg presented a written report for his May activities.
Pastor Camberg requested that the amount of his June expenses be donated to the building fund and the amount of his July expenses given to Pastor Eric Reimer as a bonus upon his arrival. Pastor Camberg will not be issued checks for June and July. Action: Motion made by Donna DuPont to accept Pastor Camberg’s donation as presented. Seconded. Motion passed.
Council expressed their appreciation for the donations and for all that Pastor Camberg has given to every member of Rehoboth.
Committee Reports
Building Committee – Royce Wilhelm / Bill Slingluff:
Reviewed the vote that was taken at the May 17th Special Congregational Meeting. Everything went well.
Property Committee – Gil Baker
• The steel doors are here. Gil will watch for a good stretch of weather to install them.
• Chip DuPont made a new cross for the outdoor alter. Thank you, Chip!
• Pastor Camberg suggested that the office be cleaned and painted for Pastor Eric. Action: Donna DuPont will clean the office on Friday, July 10th, and members of council will paint the office on Saturday, July 11th.
Bright Beginnings – Royce Wilhelm
• Betsy Woodling’s Recognition / Reception will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2009. A gift from the congregation will be purchased by Royce to present to Betsy.
• Two candidates have been brought back for second interviews. Both excellent candidates. Bright Beginnings Board is voting this week.
• A letter was sent to Church Council and to Bright Beginnings Board from parents of a student. Royce reported that the Bright Beginnings Board has addressed the concerns. Action: Royce will make sure that the Board followed up with the parents.
Unfinished Business:
Eric Reimer, recap
Reviewed the June 7th Special Congregational Meeting vote. Candidate Erin Reimer will be ordained on Saturday, June 20th. There are about 20 members from Rehoboth planning to attend the ordination. Eric anticipates arriving at Rehoboth around July 15th. Tom will get a couple of men from the church to help Eric and Courtney move. No date has been set for his installation.
Stewardship Key Leader
Discussed the weekends proposed by Stewardship Key Leader Kathy Haueisen. The first weekend will be September 12/13, 2009 and the second weekend (the end of the program) will be October 24/25, 2009. Action: Carol Nicoletti will get the dates on the church calendar. Discussed members of the congregation that could be asked to be on the committee to try to include all age groups.
Constitution/By-Laws
Tom received a letter from the Rev. Kirk Bish. Our revised Constitution and By-Laws (passed by the Congregation at the January 2009 Congregational Meeting) are appropriate and in order.
Adjournment
Bill Slingluff made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Seconded. Motion carried. Meeting ended with the Lord’s Prayer.
