COUNCIL MINUTES
Wednesday, July 7, 2010
MEMBERS PRESENT: Dee Phillips, Donna DuPont, Bill Slingluff, Tom Kuny, Rob Hicks, Wes Hill and Pastor Eric
CONGREGATIONAL MEMBER: Sam Goncz
MEMBERS ABSENT: Karen Szatkiewicz and Royce Wilhelm
Opening Devotions – Pastor Eric opened the meeting with devotions. Wes Hill will lead devotions the next council meeting.
Secretary’s Report – Rob Hicks made a motion to accept the minutes, seconded by Donna DuPont and motion carried. A thank you note was received from Dennis Whalen for the gift card.
Treasurer’s Report – Debbie Jasinski was not present. Treasurer’s report tabled until next meeting.
Pastor’s Report – Pastor Eric presented a written report. Announced he is planning a new members/Lutheranism refresher class which will run from July 25 to August 29, after worship and Wednesday Evenings. He is also in the process of reconstruction of Parish records. Pastor announced he will be on vacation September 8th through the 15th.
Committee Reports
Mission Action – Donna DuPont announced that forty-nine health kits were
prepared with donated items and $129 monetary donations were received.
The money was used to supply forty-four items to complete the kits and the
postage for mailing.
Glade Run is in need of donations of bricks to be used for a prayer labyrinth.
Building Expansion – Sam Goncz presented two loan options available for a
loan to pay for the building expansion. Bill Slingluff made a motion to accept the
FNB offer of a seven year loan at 5.28%, 20 year amortization with the principal
balloon at the end of the seven year period. Seconded by Donna DuPont and
motion carried.
Unfinished Business-
Copier
Council reviewed and discussed the options for purchasing the new copier. It was
decided Hagan Business would supply the new copier. Donna DuPont made the motion
Motion carried.
Grange
A formal offer of $55,000 was made to purchase the Grange property. Rehoboth has first Right of Refusal to match this offer and purchase it. It will be discussed at the Congregational meeting on July 25th.
Committee to explore Rehoboth denominational options
A committee to research our options and report back to us will consist of Wes Hill, Rich Insull and Joan States. The alternate is Sam Goncz.
New Business
Boy Scout Project
An Eagle Scout project consisting of providing benches and three picnic tables was discussed by Council. All materials for these items will be donated. A request for $700 from the Church for materials to finish the ceiling of the shelter was denied due to the expense of the pending church expansion.
Congregational Meeting
A congregational meeting will be held following the Worship Service on July 25th.
The agenda will consist of the building expansion update, loan update, Grange sale, timbering and land clearing and gas and oil contract approval.
