COUNCIL MINUTES
Tuesday, January 22, 2008
MEMBERS PRESENT: Gil Baker, Donna DuPont, Tom Kuny, Carol Nicoletti, Dee Phillips, Karen Szatkiewicz and Royce Wilhelm.
The Rev. Kirk Bish, Assistant to the Bishop, was in attendance.
EXCUSED ABSENCE: Bill Slingluff – assisting flood victims in Mississippi.
Opening Devotions – Donna lead the devotions from the Word in Season, Exodus 3: 1-5. Dee will lead the devotions for February.
Secretary’s Report – Carol made a motion to accept the Secretary’s Report as printed. Seconded. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report – In Debbie’s absence, Tom reviewed the report. The report will be filed for audit.
- Simply Giving was discussed as to why the total of the giving was not being reflected in the weekly offerings reported in the Sunday bulletin. Discussion was held. A decision was reached that Simply Giving will be recorded in the weekly total for the bulletin with a comment that the Simply Giving is included.
Proposed Budget for 2008 – Tom
Pastor Bish suggested the following changes be made to the budget to coincide with Synod Guidelines.
Salary and Social Security $ 34,000
Housing 14, 475
Mileage 4,000
Professional Expenses 400
Donna made a motion to accept the changes. Seconded. Motion carried.
Committee Reports
Property – Gil Baker
- A work day is scheduled for March 8th or March 15th (Saturday) to coincide with the Fellowship work day.
Women of the ELCA – Donna DuPont
- The women requested approval of two fundraisers for Camperships; Avon sales and Hoagie and Apple Dumplings. Royce made a motion to approve the fundraisers. Seconded. Motion carried.
Unfinished Business
Finance Committee for Building Project
- Carol Nicoletti will chair with Jean Peck and David Coyle serving with her. When we are ready to approach the congregation with the finance information, Carol will prepare colored handouts to be distributed.
