Tuesday, January 19, 2010
Members Present: Gil Baker, Donna DuPont, Rob Hicks, Tom Kuny, Carol Nicoletti, Dee Phillips, Karen Szatkiewicz, Royce Wilhelm and Pastor Eric Reimer
Members Absent: Bill Slingluff and Debbie Jasinski, Treasurer
Opening Devotions:
Gil Baker opened the meeting with devotions. Donna DuPont will lead devotions in February.
Secretary’s Report:
Rob Hicks made a motion to accept the December 17, 2009, Secretary’s Report. Seconded. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report:
- Council members reviewed the December report. Action: Filed for audit.
- Reviewed giving and attendance report. Carol Nicoletti’s report averaged the attendance per month and then the month’s totals were averaged which comes to 98. For an exact average for the year, tally all the services as a whole, the average is 101.
Pastor’s Report:
- Distributed report for December 20, 2009 through January 19, 2010
Committee Reports
Building Expansion Committee: Royce Wilhelm
- There is a delay in the bids going out due to a delay with the boiler reconfiguration.
- Bids will go out until February 22, 2010.\
- Bids will be due back March 15, 2010 and are usually good for 60 to 90 days.
- Construction could start first of May.
- Plan to have a congregational meeting in April to approve final bid (would need to put announcement in April newsletter).
- Scott Shoup recommended we file for a building permit. The cost will be around $3,000. There is a fee to the borough, $500 to $1,000 and fees to independent reviewers (elevator and handicapped accessibility regulations). Royce will contact Scott to determine approximately how long the review process takes.
Insull Senior Project – Tom Kuny & Pastor Eric Reimer
- Sarah Insull would like to organize a Colitis and Crohn’s disease awareness and Fundraiser as her senior project. The Ambridge Steel Drums would perform. She will have raffle items and refreshments. Pastor Eric will work with her to determine the date. Action: Rob Hicks made a motion to approve Sarah Insull’s senior project. Seconded. Motion carried.
Sunday School – Rob Hicks
Eileen Ford-Sloppy resigned as Sunday School teacher. Cindy Morris has agreed to teach a combined preschool and kindergarten class.
Youth Board – Rob Hicks
There will be a “Lock In’ held on February 6, 2010. On February 7th the kids will conduct the majority of the church service. Pastor Eric will preside over communion.
Mission Committee – Donna DuPont
The Mission Committee completed their plans for the year.
Unfinished Business:
Council Members: There is one nominee for council: Wes Hill.
New Business
Copier: The lease on our current copier from Ricoh expires at the end of February. Tom Kuny obtained a quote from Ricoh.
- Lease: 60 months @ $210 per month which includes maintenance, toner, monthly fee and 15,000 black and white copies). The cost is $.015 for each black and white copy after 15,000. Color copies cost $.078. There are no color copies included in the monthly fee.
- Purchase Price: $7,400
He will contact another company for a bid.
Adjournment: Rob Hicks made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Seconded. Motion carried. Meeting ended with the Lord’s Prayer.
