COUNCIL MINUTES
Tuesday, January 13, 2009

MEMBERS PRESENT:  Gil Baker, Donna DuPont, Rob Hicks, Tom Kuny, Carol Nicoletti, Dee Phillips, Karen Szatkiewicz , Royce Wilhelm. And Treasurer, Debbie Jasinski

The Rev. Lawrence Camberg, Interim Pastor, was in attendance.

EXCUSED ABSENCE:  Bill Slingluff – Vacation.

Opening Devotions – Royce lead the devotions ”Waiting Expectations.” Donna will lead the devotions for February.

Secretary’s Report – Royce made a motion to accept the Secretary’s Report as printed.  Seconded.  Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report –.Debbie Jasinski
- The family who subsidized the purchase of the handchimes with matching funds, was reimbursed their half of the purchase.
- Benevolence was short $721 in meeting our goal.  Donna made a motion to pay the $721 to meet our commitment.  Seconded.  Motion carried.
- Debbie invested $25,000 from the Building Fund to a CD.
- Filed for audit

Pastor’s Report – Pastor Camberg presented a written report. for Nov. and Dec.  The following families were accepted into membership:  Lee and Donna Corfield; Karen and Richard Insull, children Sarah and Megan (Letter of Transfer); Robert (adult baptism) and Amanda Schmidt (Letter of Transfer) and Donna Vohar (Affirmation of Faith).  His dedication to Pastoral care is deeply appreciated.

Committee Reports

Property – Gil Baker
- Locks – Gill requested a list of those who are to receive a key.  Tom will give Gil a list.
- Doors – Tom received a monetary donation from a family wishing to purchase a new steel, double door to replace the deteriorating ones in the back stair well.  Royce volunteered to research the cost.
- Furnace – Melvin Murray checked the furnace and a part needs to be replaced.    It was also suggested that the ceiling fans be turned on later in the week to circulate the warm air.

- Stain Glass Windows – Royce Wilhelm
Royce received a letter from Willet Hauser Architectural Glass for a free inspection of our stain glass windows.  He reported that the windows are in good shape.

Unfinished Business
- Phones -  Tom spoke with his contact regarding the new phone system.  It was agreed that he should look into a system that can be expanded upon in the future.
- Secretary – Rose Ann Holcomb was hired as the new church secretary.  Tom presented Leigh with a  farewell & thank you gift on behalf of the congregation.
- Carol and Donna interviewed Rose Ann and felt her qualifications and personality with be a good fit with Rehoboth.
- Carol handed out copies of Rose Ann’s resume.

New Business
- Annual Committee Reports – Due now.
- Stewardship Key Leader - Carol
- Carol contacted three churches regarding the SKL Program.  No hesitation to use the program again.
- After phone discussions, Carol was very encouraged about using this program.
- Carol will update the congregation on the Stewardship Key Leader program.
- A Timeline to begin the program was agreed upon – September through December 2009.

-    Application for Pre-Approval - Carol
- Carol reviewed that ELCA Mission Investment Fund application for pre-approval.  The target date was set for March.  Royce made a motion that we submit the application.  Seconded.  Motion carried.

-  Sewing Machines for Mission:  Action - Tom
- Tom was approached by Leslie DuPont on behalf of the W/ELCA regarding the purchase of new sewing machines for the Mission:  Action Committee.  There was a sale for $99 each.  The machines they have been using have reached the point of cost prohibited.  Permission was given to purchase three machines.

Adjourn – Rob made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  Seconded.  Motion carried.
