Sunday School Classes

Every Sunday during the school year (September - June), we offer Christian Education for all ages starting at 9:15 AM. Preschool through sixth grade will meet in the sanctuary for some morning praise singing while the rest meet in their rooms downstairs in the fellowship hall. We offer two different adult study groups so there in something for everyone.

Learning about Christ is most exciting when you are able to discuss, question, wonder, be amazed and feel whole with someone else you know. If you or your child has a friend that would be interested in attending Sunday School, please let them know that they are welcome.

Pre-Kindergarten/Preschool meets in the left side of the nursery and is taught by Lorrie Kuny.

Kindergarten and 1st grades meet in the right side of the nursery and is team taught by Stacy Hicks and Eileen Ford.

2nd, 3rd and 4th grades meet in the back of the fellowship hall and is taught by Missy Steines-Wolfson.

5th and 6th grades meet in the middle of the fellowship hall and is taught by Lori and Scott Shoup.

7th and 8th grades meet in the board room (2nd door on the left once in the fellowship hall) and is taught by Rob Hicks.

9th through 12th grades meet in the lounge (4th door on the left once in the fellowship hall) and is taught by Sam Goncz.

Friendship Class/Adult Bible Study meets in the sewing room (3rd door on the left once in the fellowship hall) and is taught by various class members. This adult class varies in its format. Sometimes they study a particular book of the bible, and other times their discussions are more focused on a particular topic. Participants take turns leading the discussions for a nice change of pace.

CIC Adult Class meets in the front of the fellowship hall near the kitchen (and near the coffee!) and is taught by Dennis Whalen. The setup for this class is very informal, but the discussion topics are selected to really make you dig into your faith.  Topics for this year include:  Stones in the Bible, Birds of the Bible, What is a liturgy, My child doesn't want to come to church, and Prayer.

The last day of Sunday School for the 2007-2008 year will be June 1st. Our Summer Worship schedule will begin June 8th.

Sunday School Outreach Project 2008

During May of 2008, our Sunday School and Mission Committee will be doing an outreach project. We have chosen The Global Barnyard. During the entire month of May, we will be collecting money to help poverty-stricken families by purchasing animals for them. Animals provide a multitude of benefits including food (i.e. eggs from chickens and milk from cows and goats, etc.), income from animal related products (they can sell their extra eggs and milk and offspring,  etc.), manure for growing crops, and the means to support and feed their families. Animals provide hungry families with food, funds, and fertilizer – all for a better future. the Global  Barnyard offers the following animals for purchase:

Cow$500
Fish Farm$250
Small Business of Bees or Silkworms$200
Goat$ 50
Pig$ 30
Turkey$ 25
Set of 10 Chicks$ 10
Pair of Rabbits$  5

Children in our Sunday School will be given a coin collection box. Order forms will be available in the newsletter, out in the narthex and in May’s bulletins. There will also be a collection box out in the narthex as part of the Global Barnyard display. Please place your donations in the World Hunger envelopes (please include an order form if you are ordering a specific animal). You may place your donation in the collection plate during worship service, place it in the collection box in the narthex, send it to the church, or hand it to either Dennis or Julie Whalen or Lori Shoup.

We will kickoff this project the first week of May and collect donations throughout the month. You may opt to purchase specific animals or offer a general donation. All general donations will be added up at the end of the month to purchase the most expensive animal that the money will buy. Further information will be available in the narthex or contact Dennis & Julie Whalen or Lori Shoup. You can also go online at http://www.elca.org/hunger/stories/barnyard.html and read more about this mission opportunity.

Let’s partner with thousands of congregations who are bringing hope and healing to all parts of the world which offer ongoing sources of sustenance and support. Your gift shines a rainbow of hope and healing across the world. When many join together, we can make a big difference.
