Bible Study - Summer 2008

Dennis Whalen Leader

Our Bible Study group will meet on Wednesday evenings from 7:00pm to 8:15pm in the fellowship hall. Fresh brewed coffee will be available. If you have a Bible, please bring it with you. If you do not have a Bible, Rehoboth has one that you may keep for your own. Our studies will be recorded and available to anyone who is unable to attend. Everyone is also encouraged to invite a relative, bring a friend, or share this time with someone who desires to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ. All are welcome!! Listed below are the dates for the Wednesdays throughout the summer and the proposed topics for each date. If you have any questions, please contact Dennis Whalen.

  • May 28th THE HOLY SCRIPTURES
What are the “Holy Scriptures” and where did they come from? Are these writings “from God” or have they been penned by ancient writers? Are the Holy Scriptures inspired, inerrant, and/or infallible? Why are there so many different translations? Which one is the best?
  • June 4th THE HOLY SCRIPTURES
How should we read the Bible? Do the writing have more than one meaning? How can we
understand the Bible when things are unclear? Does the Bible contain contradictions?
  • June 11th NO BIBLE STUDY
  • June 18th THE TRINITY
What is a “trinity” and where can I find one in the Bible? Is there only one God? Is Jesus also God? What about the Holy Spirit? How can they all be God? What did the ancient church think about three-in-one?
  • June 25th CREATION
What does the Bible say about the “creation account”? Did God really create everything? Did God create the universe in six 24-hour days or longer? How can fossils be explained? What about the dinosaurs?
  • July 2nd DREAMS AND VISIONS
Daniel, Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel all had them…dreams and visions. What was God saying to these prophets? How did the prophets interpret the dreams and visions?
  • July 9th PRAYER
Does the Bible teach us how to pray? Is there a correct way to pray? Is there an incorrect way to pray? Who should I pray to? Will all of my prayers be answered by God?
  • July 16th HEAVEN AND HELL
Does the Bible teach that there is a literal place called hell? Is there a place called heaven? Do these places exist right now? Who will go to heaven? Who will go to hell?
  • July 23rd NO BIBLE STUDY
  • July 30th ARCHEOLOGY
Does archeology support or refute the Biblical claims? Are there cities, events, or people written about in the Bible that archeology has proved to exist? Are there cities, events, or people that have not been uncovered?
  • August 6th NO BIBLE STUDY (VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL)
  • August 13th ON “BEING SAVED”
Are you saved? How do you know? What must one “do” to be saved? This was one of Luther’s crowning achievements…The Doctrine of Justification.
  • August 20th THE LAST DAYS
Does the Bible teach about the “Last Days”? When are the “Last Days”? Will there be a great “Day of Judgment”? When will that day occur?
