What do we mean when we say liturgy? Liturgy is simply the framework on which we build our worship service. It stems from the Old Testament and the New Testament and has been used for centuries. Much of it has become tradition and used throughout the Christian community. It provides a pattern for what we do as we worship that includes when we sit or stand, how we pray, and even how the Pastor blesses the bread for communion. Liturgy gives form to our praise and prayer. Everyone participates in it whether you are reading, singing, praying, or serving. It gathers our energies and brings our public praise into a recognizable form. It is our response to what God is doing among us.
